DIY Besan Face Mask Recipe for an Instant Glow Up

We need to hydrate, nourish, and keep our skin healthy to prevent damage caused by pollution, dust, and even our laptop screen.

In order to give your skin the attention it needs, I’m sharing a DIY besan face mask recipe I made recently to hydrate my dull skin. The yellow mask contains simple ingredients such as turmeric, rose essence, lemon juice, honey, and yogurt.

Gram flour face masks help nourish and protect the skin. Its ingredients make it the perfect face mask to fight pollution damage and tanning.

What you need

  • two tablespoons besan or Gram flour
  • one tablespoon yogurt
  • half teaspoon lemon juice
  • half tablespoon honey
  • one teaspoon rosewater (optional)

Benefits of the Ingredients in the Besan Face Mask

Let me tell you about the benefits of the ingredients in the face mask recipe before we get started.

Besan or Gram flour

The accumulation of oil glands leads to acne. The zinc found in besan or gram flour helps battle infections that cause acne to erupt. Additionally, it soothes inflamed skin.

Gram flour is a natural skin cleanser and helps remove tanning and brighten your skin tone. By exfoliating dead skin, it helps remove them. Oiliness can also be reduced with it. In many ways, gram flour is beneficial for the skin.

Honey

Honey is primarily known for its healing properties. It promotes the healing of skin wounds. Honey has been proven to keep skin youthful, firm fine lines and wrinkles, balance pH levels, and protect against pathogenic infections.

“skin cells are conditions by the antioxidant activity provided by honey, cytokines and matrix metalloproteinase and epithelial‐mesenchymal helps with wounded epidermis.”

To conclude, honey has incredible skin benefits.

Yogurt

Including yogurt in your skincare routine can prove beneficial. The lactic acid in it helps remove dead skin cells and moisturizes the skin.

The probiotic has been used as a home remedy to remove tanning for ages. Due to the lactic acid bacteria and zinc in yogurt, it acts as a natural cleanser.

A study by Walter P Smith recommends the lactic acid level should be high for this benefit – 12%.

Rosewater

Rose essence soothes skin irritation and alleviates redness and puffiness. Studies have shown that rosewater is antioxidative. Flavonoids, tannins, saponins, alkaloids, and other components in it give it its sunscreen properties.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice is not only rich in vitamin C, but it is also rich in flavonoids and carotenoids. Vitamin C is beneficial to the skin in many ways, especially since it contains (alpha hydroxy acid) AHA, which is essential for skin.

Researchers say lime juice is beneficial when applied topically or consumed internally. Besides rejuvenating the skin, it also keeps it hydrated and protects it further from infections. Flavonoids and vitamin C can also help reduce odor.

When applied, the acidic property helps in scrubbing off the dead cells. Aside from that, it is also useful for treating dandruff, rashes, and bruises. Additionally, it provides refreshment while bathing.

Steps to Prepare the Besan Face Mask

  1. Add all the ingredients to a bowl.
  2. Mix the ingredients and form a paste. Ideally, the paste should not be too thin or too thick.
