My Experience with MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour – Dance with Me
MAC launched its matte liquid lipsticks in 2016, exactly when matte lips were all the rage. I was a little intimidated due to the high price and finally purchased my first MAC liquid lippie just a couple of months ago.
The product comes encased in a matte black cardboard box, which mentions the shade name in a color-coded square, and also mentions other details like the ingredients. You get 5 ml of product, which is fairly good, in my opinion. The lipstick retains the classic MAC bullet packaging, with the exception of the bottom part being made of transparent acrylic glass. I really like the minimal yet stylish packaging.
The sponge tip applicator is teardrop-shaped, and the shape is just perfect for getting into the corners of your lips. The wand is really sturdy and does not bend and has a well in the center that picks up an adequate amount of product.
The consistency of MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour is neither too thin and not too thick. It’s not runny but also not creamy like a soft matte liquid lipstick. It feels a little like a gel to me.
This lippie is unbeatable when it comes to pigmentation. You get one swipe pigment, and the color is really potent. It has an ultra-matte finish. It’s basically MAC’s cult-favorite retro matte formula in a liquid texture. It feels very lightweight on the lips.
The lipstick also doesn’t bleed or budge throughout the day. You can eat, drink, and do whatever you want, but you’ll find the lipstick on your lips at the end of the day. I do find that it takes a little while to dry down, though completely. Also, after 3-4 hours of application, it will make your lips feel dry, so exfoliation and moisturization are absolutely necessary before applying this lipstick.
Dance with Me is a deep red color. If you’re someone who’s not a fan of bold, bright reds like Ruby Woo, this is the color for you. It’s deep yet muted, so it suits all skin tones and does not look over the top. In my opinion, every girl should have this shade in her makeup bag because it adds so much dimension to the whole look.
INR 2200 is obviously quite an expensive price to pay for lipstick. I believe that in terms of formula, there are better lipsticks in the market with a much affordable price tag. At a price this high, I would expect an exceptionally non-drying formula which is something MAC liquid lipsticks lack. I would, therefore, recommend checking out other lippies before you decide to go for this one. That being said, I still believe that Dance with Me is a uniquely gorgeous shade that you should at least swatch at your nearest MAC store.

Final Word
At a hefty price, you might feel a little disappointed with the formula of MAC retro matte liquid lipstick because it tends to be drying. However, I would still recommend that you check it out because it’s super long-lasting and the pigmentation is incomparable. The shade Dance with Me flatters every skin tone, and is something I will definitely repurchase!
Bawse lady, from thelipbar is such a perfect dupe! They are both such gorgeous, eddy & very classy shades of red that look great on everyone!
I absolutely loved your review of the MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Dance with Me! The color looks stunning and perfect for a bold look. I’m curious about the wear time you experienced—did it last through meals? Thanks for sharing t.i
Yeah it mostly lasts through meals depending on what you eat. If it’s oily, then it’ll mix and fade with the greasiness.
