Final Word

MAC’s Satin lipstick is extremely non-drying and a delight to wear because of its lightweight yet rich, ultra-creamy formulation. It does transfer but is extremely easy to reapply. Twig is a perfect nude color for medium skin tones and looks absolutely pretty on fair skin tones as well. While it is expensive, I do think that it is worth investing your money in because of its great quality. I recommend this product!

A good nude lipstick is something all women need in their makeup bag. Bold, bright colors are great, but most of us don’t wear them daily, and a subtle nude is more natural to pull off, and it makes you look put together at the same time. Your nude lipstick must compliment your skin tone.

From pinks to browns to mauves, there are a plethora of nudes to choose from. Today, I’m going to be talking about Twig, a well-loved nude shade by MAC. It’s my first satin lipstick from the brand and also my first MAC Mini. Let’s go!

My Experience with MAC Satin Lipstick – Twig

The lipstick is packed in a black bullet-shaped tube, the quintessential MAC packaging. Unlike the full-sized lipsticks, however, the Mini version does not come with an outer cardboard box. Therefore, to find out more details about the product, you’ll have to search the internet. You get 1.8 grams of the product. The size of the lipstick is very travel-friendly. The shade name is mentioned at the bottom of the tube.

The formula is extremely rich and creamy and does not tug the lips at all. The coverage is medium but can be built up to your preference. Two coats will give you the full, opaque color of the lipstick. I don’t recommend wearing too many layers as it may cause your lips to look cakey.

Twig is a medium pink color with a brown undertone. It is quite a warm color and very suitable for Indian skin tones. On fair skin tones, it looks pretty pink, and on medium skin tones, it is an MLBB shade. It is the perfect nude for medium skin tones. It is also flattering on medium-dark skin but may wash out very dark skin tones. In my opinion, it looks the best on medium skin tones.

It’s quite a muted color and can be worn every day to work. Twig falls under the Satin umbrella of MAC lipsticks, which means that it has what the brand calls “velvet sheen finish.” The formula is not drying at all. In fact, despite being incredibly creamy, the lipstick doesn’t feel heavy at all. It is so lightweight that whenever I have it on, I often forget that I’m wearing any lipstick. Because Twig is quite a natural color, I sometimes like to dab a little bit of it on my cheeks and eyelids for a monochromatic look, and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Because of the creamy nature of the formula, the lipstick does tend to transfer. It is not kiss-proof and will transfer on to food and cups. However, on days when I don’t eat much, I’ve noticed that it can last pretty much throughout the day on my lips with just a little bit of fading. It’s effortless to reapply and does not look patchy. It is also bleed-proof.

MAC is available online and in MAC stores, which means that you can swatch the product before deciding to spend your money on it.

The main negative thing about this lipstick, which is also probably a deal-breaker for many, is its price. Even the Mini version costs a hefty Rs. 1050, which is quite an investment. While the performance of the lipstick is top-notch, this one negative point may make it difficult for you to make up your mind about purchasing this lipstick or not. So, here is a list of pros and cons to help you make your decision:

Pros:

  • Lightweight
  • Very buildable pigmentation
  • Non-drying
  • Long-lasting
  • Easy reapplication
  • Does not tug the lips
  • Bleed proof
  • Travel-friendly size
  • Available online and offline

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Not transfer-proof
  • Not suitable for very dark skin
