DIY Beetroot Face Mask for a Skin that Glows

You’ve probably heard of beetroot juice before, but how many of you have tried making your own Beetroot face mask at home to keep your skin radiant and glowing for the long haul?

Yes, beetroot is one of the most popular superfoods in the beauty world, and it’s no wonder why. It’s rich in betaine which helps to maintain the elasticity of the skin, and it’s also high in vitamin C which gives a radiant fresh look to the skin.

Are beetroot face masks the latest beauty craze? Or are they just another fad? I have to admit that I didn’t know what to make of them until recently.

I was skeptical about using beetroot as a beauty treatment. Then I had a face mask from a friend and fell in love with its natural ingredients. So, I decided to do some research and make my own beetroot face mask.

Beetroot

Why should you try this face mask?

The most popular skincare ingredients on the planet have got to be the humble beetroot. Nature’s gift for skincare and beauty, will re-energize your skin and have it looking its best. Beetroot’s powerful anti-inflammatory properties help reduce fine lines and heal hyperpigmentation, while its skin-saving properties are hugely beneficial, no matter your age. And, last but not least, beetroot is the most versatile plant for creating beauty products – it can be used for face masks, hair treatments, moisturizers, and even treatments for your nails!

What you need

  • 6-8 tablespoons of beetroot juice
  • 2 tablespoons of gram flour
  • 4-5 drops of honey

Beetroot

What makes beets so wonderful is their concentration of betalains, which gives them their vibrant red color. These antioxidants can help reduce free radicals. Beetroot is also a natural exfoliant. Minerals and vitamins are packed into it, and it helps remove dead skin cells. In addition, it smells great.

Gram flour

Gram flour is rich in protein and contains many vitamins and minerals such as zinc, iron, potassium, vitamins A and E. Furthermore, it prevents the growth of harmful bacteria as well as maintains the health of the skin. Gram flour is also perfect for achieving a dewy and radiant complexion when used in your regular routine and even for achieving the effects of a facial mask.

Honey

The beauty of honey is that it is a natural remedy for many skin problems, and it also helps to nourish the skin. Honey can soothe the skin, removing dryness and flaking and improving the appearance of eczema and psoriasis. Even though we are used to the effects of honey on our skin, we are not aware of its beauty benefits.

Almond oil

Makeup remover and moisturizer in one, almond oil is a wonderful way to retexture your skin and leave it glowing! Almond oil has a number of skin-loving properties, including nourishing the skin, moisturizing, and providing hydration. The oil is also loaded with antioxidants, including vitamin E, which are great for reducing the signs of aging and helping to prevent damage from environmental stressors.

Steps to Prepare the Beetroot Face Mask

  • Mix the beetroot into a smooth paste using a blender.
  • Drain the juice from it.
  • Add gram flour to beetroot juice in a small bowl.

When and how to apply the mask?

Face masks are always better used at night or in the evening. After cleansing the face, apply a thick layer of the mask. Let it sit for 10 minutes or until it is completely dry. Gently scrub it for a minute or two before washing it off. Next, rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

Put on a night cream, serum, or moisturizer. Use this beetroot mask weekly. Applying it regularly gives you beautiful skin. If you make a large batch, store it for next week’s application.

Benefits of a beetroot face mask

  • Reduces dark circles and lightens dark patches on the skin.
  • Contains antioxidants that help keep most skin problems at bay.
  • Brightens your skin cells from the inside out.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties that help to treat skin inflammations.
  • Prevents skin pigmentation.
  • Gives the skin a healthy pinkish glow.

What to keep in mind

  • Don’t use too much gram flour as it may dry out your skin.
  • Don’t wear the face mask during the day.
  • Apply a good moisturizer after washing off the mask.
  • Use a sunscreen lotion with an appropriate SPF during the day and reapply it as needed.
  • Avoid storing the face mask for too long.

The takeaway

The beetroot face mask is an easy way to get healthy and great-looking skin. I’d recommend using it two to three times a week, but if you like to use it more often and don’t mind the mess, then go ahead! Remember that the amount of peeled beetroot is the key to the effectiveness of this mask. The mask will be too watery if you put in too little. It’s best to start out with a latex glove so you don’t have to touch the mask once it’s in the bowl.
