Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder | Review

I am a huge fan of Wet n Wild products. They are super affordable, and they actually do their job! The brand has managed to create a line of products which are perfectly balanced and inexpensive at the same time. Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting powder is all the rage in the beauty market. You can watch beauty vloggers rave about it online and look up unique makeup look creations using it.

My favorite shade of the highlighter has to be – Precious Petals. It is a well rounded universal shade and suits all skin tones perfectly!

The highlighter comes in a dark plastic pan with a transparent cover. The packaging is not very sturdy so carry the pan around with precaution as it can easily break on contact with the hard floor.

The packaging does not come with an added brush or mirror, which understandable because of the low pricing. The affordability of the product can be contributed to the cost-cutting and low-wastage principles of the manufacturer.

You can find the details, ingredients, batch code, and other information about the back of the pan. The cover lid of the pan fits tightly and securely.

However, you should keep it inside a secure, sturdy container while traveling to avoid damage to the product.

• Texture

The texture of the highlighter is smooth, silky, and highly pigmented. When you swatch it on the hand, you can feel the frosted metallic particles when you rub it between your fingers.

The pigmentation on the skin is not as dark as on the pan. Hence, you will have to apply the highlighter twice depending on your skin complexion.

After application, the Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder leaves a rose gold shimmer all over the cheekbones. The pigmentation is not as dark as the shimmer, which is great because it is all about the skin!

The shade is universal and suits all skin tones. The metallic sheen reflects beautifully under lights. It has no fine glitter which crumbles on the skin. Instead, the application of the highlighter is smooth, and it glides on like a gel.

If you do not like a dark highlighter and instead prefer just plain shimmer, you can always diffuse the highlighter using a light brush. You can also test out the other to highlighter shades from the Wet n Wild line – Crown of My Canopy, Blossom Glow and Winter Falls in LA.

Precious Petals works well on medium skin tones. It should also look good on light skin tones. If it doesn’t work well with your skin tone, you can use it as a shimmery eyeshadow, eye brightener, and blush topper. If you’re tanned and required a deeper shade of highlighter, then the best bet is Crown of My Canopy.

However, as the highlight has metallic sheen and particles, it may not work well on people with textured skin. Avoid using the highlighter on top of acne marks, skin bumps, milia, and other skin textures as it may enhance the flaws on the skin.

• Blendability

The highlighter blends well on non-textured skin. It glides smoothly and mixes into the layers of foundation and powder.

It can be blended easily by using the heat from the fingers, using a highlighter brush, a fan brush, a dense or tapered brush. You can also use a wet sponge for a pigmented application.

However, the more the heavy the application, the more prominent will be the texture of the skin. Hence, use the highlighter lightly on spaces with a bumpy texture.

• Longevity

The product lasts for a very long time even on oily skin tones. The longevity of the product can be approximated down to 6-7 hours. This is very unlikely for other highlighters in the same price range.

The maximum longevity I have seen in the low to mid-range highlighters is 3-4 hours. The pan itself can last for 3-4 months, depending on usage. I still have mine which I bought four months ago. And believe me when I say this – I wear a LOT of highlighters.
