I was tucked in bed around 11 p.m., half-asleep and mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, when suddenly—bam!—A famous beauty shopping site dropped the announcement: Too Faced was finally here.

My sleep instantly vanished and my brain launched into overdrive, building a mental wishlist of everything I had to try.

Too Faced is famous for many cult-favorite products, and the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer is definitely one of them. Obviously, I couldn’t resist.

I picked up the smaller size to test it out, and after using it for 2–3 weeks, I’m ready to spill the tea.

About the Product

The Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer is a hydrating, water-based primer designed to refresh tired or dull-looking skin. It’s formulated with coconut water, probiotics, and ingredients called “skin revivers,” which are said to support moisture balance and improve the look of skin over time. You can wear it alone for a light, dewy finish, or layer it under makeup to help your products apply more smoothly and last longer.

My Experience with Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer

Let’s talk packaging first, because yes, I’m a sucker for cute things!

The primer comes in an adorable pink-and-white gradient box that lists every single detail you need. Inside, the tube matches the same pretty gradient and has a secure white plastic cap.

There’s a pump for dispersal, which I really like. I appreciate that Too Faced kept the pump even on their travel-sized version, since a lot of brands tend to skimp out on such details with their small-sized products.

The pump dispenses just the right amount, so there’s very little scope for waste. It’s travel-friendly, overall.

Too Faced is a cruelty-free brand, and this primer is free from parabens. The shelf life is 6 months, which is quite reasonable, especially if you’re using it regularly.

Speaking of scent, this primer smells exactly like coconuts! Feels like a tropical little treat each time I use it, but a bit strong. While I personally like it, I’d say that the aroma is on the strong side. I would suggest sensitive-skinned beauties do a patch test before using this product.

Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer Swatches and Review

Texture-wise, it’s lightweight, creamy yet non-greasy, and melts into the skin quickly without any effort.

Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer doesn’t feel heavy and is lightly hydrating, especially for my oily skin, without feeling oily. So, those with oily skin may skip moisturizer if they want. A small amount covers the face evenly.

There’s an afterglow post-application. But this isn’t your typical pore-blurring, silicone-based primer, if you expect so. It won’t fill lines or give that blurring effect to the skin. It’s water-based, instead of silicone, and intended to nourish skin, not cover it.

It’s infused with coconut water, probiotics, and what they charmingly call “skin revivers.”

Every day, I apply it before moisturizer, and I can tell my skin feels a little more plumper and healthier, as if it had a good night’s sleep. I believe regular use might make a big difference.

The Too Faced Hangover Primer absolutely improves the makeup application. My cream and powder products glide on more smoothly, creating a healthy-looking canvas without a white cast, so my dusky beauties would appreciate it as well! Takes care of creasing and patchiness.

Now, on to the pros and cons!

Pros

  • Adorable, travel-friendly packaging with a secure pump
  • Free from cruelty and parabens
  • Lightweight, non-greasy, and hydrating
  • Pleasant coconut scent if you like fragrance
  • Absorbs quickly
  • Helps make the base smoother and minimizes creasing
  • Doesn’t leave behind a white cast
  • Makes skin feel plumper and more refreshed with daily use

Cons

  • On the pricey side for the size
  • Not a pore-filling, matte-finish primer
  • Strong fragrance may not be for those sensitive to it
  • A 6-month shelf life might be too short for occasional users

Final Word

Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer has become a constant in my makeup routine. But beware before purchasing: after using this, drugstore primers would feel a bit meh. It gives just the perfect amount of glow and hydration without the greasiness, and my makeup glides on like butter. If you’re looking for a primer that feels more like skincare than a skin-changer and actually delivers, I absolutely recommend giving it a shot!
