Lately, I’ve been really enjoying the look of tint on my lips instead of fully opaque color. I find that tinted lips look really fresh and are very suitable for days when I don’t feel like wearing any makeup.
I think that my love affair with matte lipsticks has finally come to an end. After scouring the internet in search of an affordable lip tint, I came across the very popular Etude House Dear Darling Lip Tints.
The packaging looked so attractive, I couldn’t stop myself from purchasing two shades – PK004 and RD307. Today I’ll be sharing with you guys my experience with this product.

My Experience with Etude House Dear Darling Tint
The unique selling point of this product is obviously it’s the packaging. The tint comes in a cardboard box that looks like a miniature version of the popsicle boxes you get in Korea. The actual bottle is shaped like a popsicle, and the handle of the applicator looks like an ice cream stick. The bottle is transparent and made of acrylic plastic. The packaging is not very high quality but is extremely adorable.
Upon twisting open the somewhat flimsy cap, you will find a sponge tip applicator. It is small, shaped like a teardrop and has a well in the center that holds a decent amount of product. It is also slightly angled which is very convenient for application.
The product has a fruity scent to it. I was hoping that each shade would have a different scent because all shades are based on fruits, but that is not the case. The scent is quite pleasant and not overpowering. I cannot smell the product once it’s on my lips.
The consistency of this product is watery. These tints are quite sheer and not very pigmented, which is exactly what a lip tint should be. They can be built up to an opaque finish and no matter how much you layer them they won’t feel cakey. However, like most lip tints, they do not dry down. They do transfer and will come off if you eat or drink. Only the dark shades leave a stain behind.
They have a semi-glossy finish when freshly applied but eventually, the shine goes away. The color that remains sits on the lips like an additional layer, however, and does not completely stain the lips like a traditional lip tint. It is completely weightless and not drying at all. They do not last long and will come off the moment you eat.
I sometimes like to use these tints on my cheeks for a subtle flush of color, but they’re not long-lasting on the cheeks either. Basically they demand reapplication every 2 hours on the lips and cheeks.
I have the Etude House Dear Darling Tint in two shades – PK004 and RD307.
PK004
Described as a ‘kidney bean red’, this color is actually not red at all. It’s a mauvy pink shade that brings out the pink color of my lips beautifully. It’s quite sheer and does not stain the lips. However, if you have pigmented lips it won’t show up and I would thus not recommend it for you.
RD307
A watermelon red shade that is perfect for summer and spring when you don’t feel like wearing heavy lipstick. It does leave a stain behind and is very buildable. It shows up on pigmented lips as well. Also, it works well as a blush on my fair skin tone.
I really like these tints because of the way they look but they’re not the best lip tints in the market. They work very well for me, but I’m quite fair, and they’re not suitable for a majority Indian skin tones and that’s disappointing. They’re definitely very affordable and the darker shades perform well but the lighter shades should be avoided, especially by richer skin tones.
Pros
- Very cute packaging
- Affordable
- Good applicator
- Buildable coverage
Cons
- Terrible staying power
- Only selective shades will show up on darker skin tones
- Does not stain the lips

Final Word
If you want a high-quality lip tint that is long-lasting and stains the lips well, this is not for you. The nicest thing about this product is the packaging, and the tint itself is okay but nothing I would very highly recommend. If you’re looking for a cute product with a tinted glossy look that you don’t mind reapplying, you can check it out.
