Today when it comes to everyday makeup, BB or CC creams come to the rescue. They’ve become an essential part of our daily makeup routine. Though I don’t do much makeup, BB cream is one product I can’t step out of my house without using it. Less than a foundation and more than a cream, it is BB cream, so I’m reviewing one such product, Garnier BB Cream, here. I’ve had a mixed experience with this cream and if you want to know more, keep on reading!
About the product: Garnier BB (Beauty Benefit) cream is an all-in-one daily moisturizer that instantly beautifies your skin and spreads evenly for a flawless finish. Its light-weight and comfortable texture blends perfectly into the skin.
This BB cream comes in a golden plastic tube with a silver cap inside a cardboard packaging. Since it’s a soft tube, you should be careful when taking out the product and not squeeze much, or else you’ll get more than required.
Since it’s a BB cream, it’s tinted. In fact, Garnier says that it’s a tinted moisturizer with SPF 24. It has an unusual fragrance more towards citrusy. The consistency of this BB cream is quite light and creamy.
I dot it all over my face and use my fingers to blend it. Sometimes I use a buffing brush and it gives me a natural finish. This BB cream gives a dewy look to the skin. It also moisturizes it from within but if you’re an oily skin person like me it will make your skin look oily further especially in the T-zone area.
It’s best for dry and normal skin types. It gives a light coverage to skin and hides minor imperfections. For reference, I have dusky skin so this cream tends to blend in well but makes few pigmented parts of the face look ashy. It will suit fair to medium to dusky skin well.
Though it doesn’t do anything in hiding dark spots or major spots, all it does is even out skin tone and makes it look fresh. It stays around for 5-6 hours easily but if the weather is hot and humid, it tends to perspire.
It’s a bit too moisturizing for oily skin and makes it greasy and shiny in summers. So, what can be done? After applying this BB cream, top it up with pressed powder to control oiliness and greasiness. Or, use it only in winters when even the oily skin needs to be hydrated.
Pros:
- A soft, creamy formula that blends easily into the skin
- Moisturizes skin
- Gives an even-toned skin
- Gives a dewy look
- Has SPF 24
- Is affordable
Cons:
- Due to the creamy formula, this BB cream won’t do much for oily skin. However, some ways can be worked out.
Final Word: Overall, Garnier BB cream worked fine for me excluding the fact that it makes my oily skin more oily. It evens out my skin tone and imparts a natural glow to the face. It has a light coverage, so don’t expect too much coverage. It’s apt for everyday use. I just don’t like its creamy formula and would’ve preferred a matte one, though if you have a dry/combination skin, it will work for you.
I remember I used it some years back and it did work for me though of course oiliness is an issue 🙁
yeah and this oiliness is irritating!
I tried this and felt the same. Its good for dry skin. For oily skin, Pond's BB cream is better…

Frankly speaking, I loved the older formula. It wasn’t this oily. But then they changed the packaging as well as the formula and screwed everything up. Now I don’t even look at it while shopping. ????
I have used this in past and quite loved it back then. Sad !! It still comes in single shade
I have an oily skin and it was a failure for me…
Didn’t like it…this made me look orange ????
