Some are orange-toned, some are too light which makes it hard to find the right shade. I got quite lucky when I discovered this concealer by Makeup Revolution – The Matte Effect Cover & Conceal in the shade MC12 (Darkest). Makeup Revolution The Matte Effect Cover & Conceal Review (Darkest Brown)

I saw this concealer on Flipkart and after researching for online reviews, which weren’t there in the first place, I ordered it without thinking much. It cost me around Rs. 250/- after a discount. The shade I chose, MC12 Darkest is the darkest shade available in this range to my knowledge. It comes in a black bullet packaging just like a lipstick. That way, the product is easier to use.

It gives a semi-opaque finish which looks natural. It conceals skin discoloration and pigmentation but on dark spots, you’ll need many layers to cover. One should take enough time to blend it properly and then set it with a pressed powder. It has the right amount of tones – neither too yellow nor too orange. It looks quite dark in the pics but in actual it’s a caramel kind of shade which is not so dark. It is an apt shade for dusky beauties. Talking about its formulation, during summers it gives a creamy finish while in winter it gives a matte finish. If I use it regularly, whiteheads form quickly on the areas where I use it especially on under eye area. So one can say it’s comedogenic. I also use it as a lipstick primer and it hides pigmentation like a boss. It has a staying power of 5-6 hours. Since it’s a dark shade you might think of using it for contouring but let me tell you, it doesn’t work that way and you’ll be disappointed. Nevertheless, it’s a good budget concealer that covers pigmentation quite well.

Final Word: Makeup Revolution The Matte Effect Cover & Conceal is one of the best budget concealers out there. The shade I have suited my dusky skin well. It has a medium coverage which covers pigmentation well and dark spots require more layers of it. Applying this concealer on regular basis can cause clog pores so one must properly exfoliate skin after using it. Though, it’s a good option when you’re low on budget and get the concealing job done.
