JUNOCO, a minimalist and sustainable beauty company, has recently launched a campaign called “#ToBeHuman” to try and shift the focus of what beauty is “supposed” to be.
So often, in the beauty industry, people are made to feel like they need to fit a certain mold to be considered beautiful.
However, the team at JUNOCO wants everyone to know that true beauty knows no bounds.

About JUNOCO
JUNOCO was born out of the need for more sustainable and ethical beauty industry. The brand was created with the belief that every person has a right to clean beauty products made with sustainable ingredients and practices. JUNOCO is on a mission to simplify the beauty industry and make it more sustainable, one skincare product at a time.
What #ToBeHuman is All About
If you don’t know already, JUNOCO is all about purpose and skin positivity! They formulate products that are kind to the planet and inspire inclusivity and acceptance for everyone. The two best JUNOCO products, Clean 10 cleansing balm and upcycle Clarifying Powder, support their mission of purposefulness.
Skin positivity is all about embracing your skin and loving it for what it is. Also, it means understanding that everyone’s skin is different and that there is no “perfect” skin. Undeniably, we all have different genetic makeups, lifestyles, and environmental factors that affect our skin.
This is why the JUNOCO team set out to capture real beauty in its most natural form with #ToBeHuman. On a warm, sunny day in California, a diverse group of skin-positive thought leaders came together for a photo shoot. All that, without the use of professional models or lighting!
Unphotoshopped and real, the thought leaders ranged in skin tone, background, and personality, with one thing in common: they were committed to celebrating natural beauty. Finally, this was a refreshing change from the usual beauty standards that the media portrays.
For the month leading up to the shoot, the participants used JUNOCO Clean 10 cleansing balm to help prep their skin. Shooting day, they came as they were – with no professional lighting or stylists. They were simply asked to use the cleansing balm one last time and then let the camera capture their natural beauty. End result: a collection of beautiful, real skin.
ToBeHuman campaign event took place in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley with the goal of moving past society’s pressure to find and fix “flaws” and instead focus on self-acceptance. It was more than just a product giveaway but about creating an inclusive beauty industry that welcomes everyone.
Over 300 people attended this inclusive event, featuring posters of “unconventional” beauty looks of its real models. JUNOCO chose to kick off the campaign in San Francisco due to the city’s history of embracing diversity and sustainability.
In the end, the organizers asked attendees, “What’s one of your insecurities that you’re most proud of?” and were blown away by the honesty and vulnerability of the answers.
Clearly, so many people struggle with insecurities, and it can be hard to feel proud of something you see as a flaw. But it was uplifting to see the community members owning their insecurities and celebrating them as part of their unique story.
We can often get caught up in comparisons and start to believe that we’re not good enough just the way we are. But hearing the attendees talk about their insecurities with pride and confidence was a reminder that we are all perfectly imperfect, which makes us all beautiful.
So, why should we embrace every part of who we are?
It’s no secret that society has unrealistic standards when it comes to beauty. We’re bombarded with images of airbrushed models and celebrities with perfect features, which can make it hard to love our own imperfections.
But the truth is, real beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors. It’s something that radiates from the inside out. Basically, it’s a state of mind as much as a physical appearance. And it’s something that we can all achieve.
Too often, we measure ourselves against others and fall short. Instead of appreciating what makes us special, we focus on our flaws and what we wish we could change.
But what if we learned to love ourselves, just as we are?
Just think about it: if we could all embrace our own individual beauty, the world would be a more beautiful place. We would be kinder to ourselves and others. Then we would be more confident and secure in our own skin.
So let’s pledge to start loving ourselves, flaws and all. It’s time to celebrate our raw beauty.
How to Be More Skin Positive and Celebrate Your Own Imperfections
The world over, people are becoming more skin positive and accepting of their imperfections. Taking part in this movement and celebrating your own skin is as simple as:
Educate yourself
Understanding why it’s important to love and accept your skin, despite its flaws, is key. The Internet and books are full of resources. Once you understand the importance of skin positivity, you can start to practice it in your own life.
Be more accepting of your imperfections
Having imperfections can be challenging, but it’s important to remember that everyone has them. They’re a natural part of life. Rather than beating yourself up over your imperfections, accept them as a part of your personality.
Give yourself some TLC
Being skin positive involves treating yourself with kindness, compassion, and respect. Ensure your skin is healthy by cleansing and moisturizing regularly. But don’t forget to pamper yourself in other ways, too. Relax with a bath, a massage, or anything else that makes you feel good.
Surround yourself with positive people
Spending time with people who value and love you for who you are can help you feel more positive about yourself. Seek out friends and family members who make you feel good about yourself, and spend less time with people who make you worry about your appearance.
Be more accepting of others
Just as it’s important to accept yourself, it’s also important to accept others. We are all beautiful in our own way. When you can see the beauty in others, it will be easier to see it in yourself.
By practicing skin positivity, you can feel better about yourself and your appearance. It’s a journey, but it’s worth taking.
The takeaway
ToBeHuman campaign matters because it allows people to feel seen and heard. So often, people with unique skin types or conditions feel they have to hide away because they don’t conform to the mainstream idea of beauty. However, with this campaign, JUNOCO is saying everyone is beautiful, no matter what.
The campaign is a powerful reminder that beauty comes in all forms, and we must celebrate our true selves—not who society says we should be. It’s a much-needed breath of fresh air in a world that often tells us we’re not good enough, and it’s sure to inspire others to embrace their unique beauty.
