Being a combination-oily skin type, I’m perpetually on the lookout for a moisturizer that hydrates my skin without making it greasy.

Earlier, I would skip moisturization altogether because I thought that my skin didn’t need it, but with time I’ve realized the importance of moisturizing your skin.

I’ve tried several moisturizers from several brands, both high-end and drugstore, and haven’t really been able to find a holy grail product myself. Recently, I grabbed the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Emulsion in the hopes that it’ll work for me. Let’s find out if it did!

My Experience with Etude House Moistfull Collagen Emulsion

The product arrives in a very classy-looking bottle. The light peach-colored bottle is made of plastic but looks like glass. It has quite a unique shape and looks really luxurious. However, the packaging failed to impress me beyond its appearance.

ETUDE HOUSE Moistfull Collagen Emulsion

Firstly, it’s difficult to dispense the product out of the bottle. There’s no pump, and you have to tap the bottle on your hand to get the product out. This can lead to product wastage because there’s no way of putting excess product back inside. And it’s also very inconvenient. Secondly, the bottle is quite weighty and not travel-friendly. Also, the bottle is opaque so you cannot see the amount of product left unless you hold the product against a bright source of light.

You get 180 ml of product, which is quite decent for the price. The product has a thin consistency and is runny. It has a light, soothing scent that I like. The scent is not overpowering at all. When I apply the product to my face, it leaves a cooling sensation that I really enjoy.

ETUDE HOUSE Moistfull Collagen Emulsion

The product is very lightly moisturizing. It gets absorbed instantly into the skin, and does not feel heavy or greasy. The formula worked wonders for me during the summer, but as the weather got colder it didn’t couldn’t provide enough moisture to my skin. Also, after 5-6 hours my skin feels parched again. I’m pretty sure that this will not work for normal or dry skin.

I have to use a lot of moisturizer to actually make my face feel moisturized. My skin does feel soft and supple after using this emulsion, but I shouldn’t have to use so much product to get the same result, especially when the product is this pricey.

This product has some hefty claims, with promises of providing endless moisture and nutrients to your skin. However, I did not feel that it was different or better than many drugstore options available in the market. I’ve been using it for a month now, and I haven’t observed any changes in the texture of my skin. I still get pimples sometimes, and my skin hasn’t become glowy after using this product. It’s a regular moisturizer that doesn’t perform any additional functions. I’ve made a list of the pros and cons, to sum up my review:

Pros:

  • Pretty packaging
  • Soothing scent
  • Gives a cooling sensation to the skin
  • Gets absorbed easily
  • Does not feel heavy or sticky

Cons:

  • Difficult to dispense product
  • Packaging is not travel-friendly
  • Not suitable for dry skin
  • Ineffective during winters
  • Expensive

Final Word

For the price of INR 1250, all you get is an average moisturizer. The packaging is inconvenient, and is sometimes annoying to work with, especially if I’m in a hurry. I think that there are better alternatives to this product. I don’t recommend this, and neither will I repurchase it.
