Winter calls for rough and dull hair which makes our overall look dull and unappealing. No matter how effective our shampoo or conditioner is, we still tend to get dry hair. Above that, the issue of dandruff also comes with this weather.
So taking proper care of hair becomes a necessity and for that, we would need to establish a proper hair care routine.
So, today I’m going to share a hair care routine with you for lively and glossy hair, this winter! Following this routine religiously will give you soft and smooth hair without all the dryness. Let’s move ahead.
- Wash your hair 3 times a week
Choose a shampoo according to your hair type. You can also multi-shampoo by using a clarifying shampoo for the scaly scalp and hydrating shampoo for the hair ends.
- Use a hair mask for dandruff
Many of us experience hair fall due to dandruff in winter. You can make your DIY dandruff cleanser at home! Take 2 tablets of Aspirin, crush them and mix them with the shampoo you use. Use this solution on your wet hair, lather for a few minutes and wash off. Your hair will look clearer as ever! Try it once a week.
- Deep condition your hair twice a week
This is a crucial step in this hair care routine. Use a rich, thick and creamy conditioner which makes your hair soft. After applying the conditioner all over the hair put on a shower cap. To boost its effectiveness blow-dry your covered hair. Leave it for at least 30 minutes and then rinse it. Check out my post on natural hair mask recipes which I’ve shared before.
- Oil your hair every time before a hair wash
Make it a regular habit of oiling your hair night before the next day you’re shampooing. Try rich and nourishing oils like Argan oil, Castor oil, Olive oil for your hair. As I suggested to wash your hair thrice a week, oil your hair thrice a week. Not only oils help our hair to become healthy but it also helps to grow hair faster.
- Use a smoothening cream
Opt for a hair cream, a leave-in conditioner for your hair which locks in the moisture and keeps your hair smooth. Aim for the cream which focuses on frizzy, unmanageable hair. I use Pantene Oil Replacement to lock the moisture in my hair.
- Wash your hair with lukewarm water
Keep that steamy shower just for your body. Your hair doesn’t need heat at all. After shampooing, wash your hair with cold or lukewarm water as heat tends to make it drier. So, a splash of lukewarm water at the end will seal in moisture to your hair cuticles.
- Don’t step out with damp hair
I know it becomes tough to dry your hair completely in winters. Especially when we’re in a hurry we step out with open, damp hair which becomes frizzy and dry with the wind. Allow your hair to dry naturally and if you can’t use a blow drier with less temperature.
So this was the simple hair care routine for winter. I know caring for hair in winter is a tough job but with proper care, we can make them lustrous and healthy. I hope you liked my post. Thanks for reading! 🙂
