Each of us has a specific style that’s a reflection of who we are, a combination of personal preferences and popular trends. The New Year is the perfect time to make new decisions and start making changes in our lives. Some changes may involve a healthier lifestyle and diet, or you may decide to try out a different hairstyle or hair color but, if you’re a fashionista, here are a couple of fashion goals you will want to achieve in 2018.
Fashion Goals You Need to Achieve in 2018
Saint Laurent showed them on the runway, Rihanna couldn’t wait for a chance to wear them, and the rest is history (or should we say ‘the next hottest trend’?). Glittery boots will be seen everywhere and they can easily be combined with sophisticated and smart as well as with playful and edgy outfits.
Because they are very flashy and eye-catching, it might be a good idea to keep the rest of your outfit a bit toned down, but if you’re going out to party hard with your girlfriends, feel free to wear a sparkly mini dress too and be the star of the club. Silver glitter is the most common shade, but you can wear colored boots too and you can even pair them up with a jacket of the same shade.
You might want to shriek in horror when you think about the 2000s’ denim-on-denim trends, but times have changed and trends have re-emerged but with new twists. If combining different shades of blue isn’t exactly your style, you can try mixing black with blue or black with white denim instead. You can always dress up with stiletto heels, red lipstick, clutch bag, or a nice belt, and if the occasion isn’t too formal, you can even pull off ripped jeans or shorts (ripped shirts are still a big ‘no’). Still, you have to draw the line somewhere: if you’re going for the double denim look, avoid adding denim accessories, it will just be too much.
Fringe to die for
No matter how much time it passes, fringe always comes back and steal the spotlight. This is why we will be seeing them in the following year too, and you will not be able to miss this trend: fringe jackets, bags, dresses, and coats with this finish will be everywhere. Those who love that fierce and edgy look will be able to rock their moto jackets with fringe on the sleeves while those who love vintage pieces will be thrilled for a chance to wear a flapper-style fringe dress with sequins and crystals.
Fifty shades of violet
Pantone named “Ultra Violet” the official color of 2018, but as you already know this allows people to adapt to trends and to adapt the trend to their liking. Many designer dresses online already feature this color. This means that all shades of violet will be welcome and you will be able to choose between the classic ultraviolet and pretty pastel shades of lavender. Pink was among the most popular trends these past couples of seasons, but it seems that it’s time for a change and make this one of your new year’s fashion goals for 2018.
Punk strikes back
If previous seasons brought grunge back to life with baggy jeans and plaid cotton shirts, the following year will embrace punk culture instead. Stripes, leopard prints, and checkered print are becoming more and more popular, as well as fishnet and sparkly accessories. Comfortable women’s tops under a long-sleeved fishnet shirt and a pair of bulky buckle boots will transform you into a punk princess, fishnet stockings and a PVC trench coat will make you look like you stepped out of a Sci-Fi movie.
These were the fashion goals that can be achieved in 2018. As inspiring and innovative as these trends sound, you should always remember that you don’t have to follow all of them. If there is a trend that simply doesn’t suit you, a piece of clothes that you don’t think looks good on you, or a makeup trend you don’t like, just skip it. The most important thing is to feel good about yourself, trends come later.
