So, It’s that time of the year again….Summer! Smoking hot season makes your skin dull, sweaty and with full of breakouts. It is important to change your skin care and hair care routine as you change your wardrobe during summer. So here I am sharing my skin care routine you could follow during summer. The products I have mentioned in this post are purely based on the suitability. I have a combination skin and all the products mentioned here works for me pretty well. During summer, I would like to use minimal products onto my skin. The summer itself is very sweaty and using a lot of products will lead to clogging of pores which in turn will lead to big bad zits on your face.
I have an acne prone skin and especially during summer, I get a lot of breakouts and It is really hard to get rid of them. I use a face wash recommended by my dermatologist called Fash Face Wash. This face wash helps to remove dirt, dead cells, and excessive oil without leaving the skin dry.
Alternatively, I use The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Face wash. I think I need not talk about this face wash. This is all over there in the market as the best selling product for the wonderful things it does to your skin. It helps me dry out the pimples and removes blemishes and excessive oil without over drying the skin.
The only toner I use is Rose Water. I always switch between Dabur Gulab Water and The Kama Ayurveda Pure Rose Water.
Toner helps the pores to shrink and also cleans up the residue, if any, from the leftover makeup or dirt.
Alternatively, you could use the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Astringent Micro-Exfoliant Lotion. I have seen many bloggers and YouTubers raving about it. I have used La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo before and hands down, it is the best product ever to eliminate skin imperfections and unclog pores. So I do trust La Roche-Posay range.
3. Serum/Oil as Moisturiser
I do not use any cream as a Moisturiser. I have been using Bio Oil as my daily moisturizer. Bio Oil is very light oil which is easily absorbed by the skin. I take two drops of Bio oil and massage it onto the skin for good 1 minute. It helps in nourishing the skin and also helps in removing the acne scars and stretch marks.
Now, I am craving to get my hands on Farsali Rose Gold Elixir Oil. I saw the famous YouTuber Farah Dhukai using it in almost every DIY video of her and since then I am craving for this baby. It is not available in India and it is hard to find worldwide shipping everywhere. But, an Instagram store, @nowandwowchennai, is selling it. I am sure I do not have to explain why we need a sunscreen on every time, indoors or outdoors. We should always go for comparatively better SPF sunscreen. I use Neutrogena UltraSheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 50+.This sunscreen is not at all heavy and gives a matte finish to the skin which I really like. I always use sunscreen every 2-3 hours.
I do not have any alternative to this because this has been the best sunblock product for me since ages.
5. Scrub away the dead cells
Exfoliating your skin is very important. There are many daily exfoliating scrubs available in the market nowadays. I use Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub to remove my blackheads and dead cells. Though it is a daily scrub, I use it every alternate day as I think using a scrub daily will make your skin very sensitive.
Alternatively, I use my DIY homemade scrub using Besan and Red Lentils powder once in a week. It removes all the dead skin and leaves your skin soft and supple.
6. Lip Care
Lips should be taken care of in winter as well as summer. The lip gets dried up really soon in summer and makes your lips dark and pigmented.
You should apply a lip balm 24/7. I use EOS Lip Balm on a daily basis. It moisturizes my lip really well all day long. They are different flavors available in India. Moreover, the packaging is really cute and the smell is divine.
Alternatively, I use Vaseline. Nothing to explain. I know right?
Exfoliating your Lip is also equally important. I mix Sugar and Honey together and scrub my lips once every week. It works out amazingly well. Do you use any specific scrub for your lips? Do leave it in the comments section below.
7. Eat your way to beautiful skin
What you eat will easily show up on your skin. During summer it is important to keep your body cool. The first thing first is to make best friends with H2O. Drinking a lot of water is the main key and the first step for clear skin.
I have started drinking Coconut water every day. It has a lot of cooling properties and Health Benefits. You can consume less of Papaya and Pineapple as they boost your body heat which in turn might cause breakouts. The other foods you could consume are Watermelon, Cucumber, Muskmelon, Mint leaves detox water, Lemon, and curd.
That’s my easy, basic summer skin care routine. As I mentioned before, my products always vary depending upon the weather outside. However, these are the products I use during summer.
